Hi Jonathan,

I don’t know if this is a good idea or not. Why do you think this is a good idea? Is their an advantage of some sort to using a Segway? I think it would be a good idea if their is some sort of advantage for potential clients to use a courier service that uses Segways, over bikes or cars. It could be the advantage is simply one of creating a brand and using the Segway as creative marketing, they certainly get noticed and if you could get your logo and phone number in a highly visible display on the Segway it may be worth it as a form of advertising. The advantage may be an environmental one: the segway runs on electricity and not gas. certainly there are some companies who would choose a more environmentaly friendly mode of delivery to show that they care about the environment. Of course if your competition are bike messengers then they win as the greenest form of delivery since they use human powered vehicles.

I guess I would compare the advantages and disadvantages of using the Segway versus other forms of transporting documents and compare the overall costs of using a segway against other forms of transportation and make my decision from there. You could also do some market research and ask potential clients if a Segway powered courier service would be of interest to them.

It definitely sounds like a fun and interesting idea! Let us know how it goes.
